Overseas property buyers from the UK and Germany are most active in the Canary Islands and Tenerife and are snapping-up luxury Abama Resort Residences at Guia de Isora
British and German investors lead foreign property purchases on the Canary Islands and Tenerife and are among buyers of real estate the luxury Abama Resort.
The Abama Golf & Spa Resort, at Guia de Isora, from property developer and manager MedGroup, includes Abama Terraces apartments from €350,000 Bellevue Villas from €1,65million, Custom Villas from around €2million and Abama Custom Villa Plots from €300,000.
A Med Group Sales and Marketing spokesman tells OPP Connect, “In 2013 there were a total of 16,311 property purchases in the Canary Islands. 12,298 of these were made by nationals and 4,013 by foreigners. Of the foreigners, 18.98% were from the UK, 14.39% from Germany and 13.3% from Belgium with other purchasers from Italy, Norway, France, China, Switzerland and Sweden.
“Statistics also show that of the 7,379 sales transactions that were conducted in total in the province of Tenerife, 31.5% were by foreigners representing a total of 2,324 purchases.
“At the Abama resort, properties have sold to a variety of nationalities including British, Belgian, Russian, Norwegian, Finnish, German, Swiss and Austrian. All have been impressed by the beauty of the location, the extremely high service levels and the quality of the amenities.”
The 160-hectare Abama Resort, which includes the Abama Hotel, managed by the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, features homes designed by Chilean/Bolivian architect Melvin Villaroel and others from Spain. Two and three-bedroom Abama Terraces apartments range from 130-220-square metres and feature balconies overlooking the ocean and tropical gardens.
The Abama Custom Villa Plots occupy front line positions on the golf course designed by Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas. The Abama Bellevue villas are 260 square metres on 500 square metre plots and feature a private pool and a mini-pool on the first floor.
The resort features a host of sports and leisure options including a golf course, tennis courts, 10 restaurants, including two Michelin starred establishments, a 2,500-square metre spa, and more – and most buyers purchase homes for holidays and leisure purposes, but Abama Terrace apartments can be rented out when not in use and The Abama Resort manages the rental on behalf of clients.
The Sánchez Casal Tennis Academy includes seven tennis courts or four paddle courts and both ATP and ITF Tour matches have been played at the Abama resort.
The area attracts a range of celebrities and film star Penelope Cruz was photographed in Abama in the summer.
