Last year's CYCLE TO MAPIC was the first

UK overseas property professionals, taking part in the CYCLE TO MAPIC 2014 event to help raise money for vulnerable children, are gearing up for the start of next weekend’s ride from Milan to Cannes

In just a week, leading UK overseas property professionals will be cycling 450kilometres from the Italy to the MAPIC property event in Cannes, France in aid of charity.

On Sunday 16 November, the CBRE CYCLE TO MAPIC 2014 event will begin the cycle from Milan to Cannes for the start of the international retail property market exhibition, MAPIC, on Tuesday 18 November.

Along the way, the riders will experience the famed Milan-San Remo race route and short sharp climbs of the Faiallo, Poggio and, new for 2014, the Pompeiana.

Among those taking part in the event, which features lead cars, motorbike outriders, mechanics and sports therapists, are Ciaran Bird, Malcolm Dalgleish and Rhodri Davies from CBRE UK, Jamie Acheson from Henderson European Retail Fund and Toby Baines of Citygrove.

Malcolm Dalgleish admits he has done little training so far, “I’m not doing much training— last year I was out all the time but this year I am adopting a different regime: a little and not very often.

“Having said that I did 100 miles last week, although Rhodri [Davies, fellow CBRE rider] pulled out the night before because there was the threat of some drizzle and Ciaran [Bird, fellow CBRE rider] arrived so late at the start due to train problems he was escorted in the team bus to Petersfield missing the first 30 miles. This does not bode well for the Cannes ride!”

Ciaran Bird, Managing Director of CBRE UK, who is riding the event, says, “Last year’s event took us on some of Italy and southern France’s most scenic roads and we found it to be a great way to bring people from within our industry together to get to know each other in a unique way whilst at the same time raising money for great causes.”

CBRE CYCLE TO MAPIC’s charity recipients include UK dedicated children’s charity Coram and Coram’s Adoption, one the UK’s leading voluntary adoption agencies that finds safe homes for the most vulnerable children.
