Sting performed at the New York launch party last week
The purchase by the pop star and his actress and his wife was confirmed at a New York launch party for the development, which will see the former power station redeveloped into a high-end site offering a range of residential and retail units in a stylish setting.
“The exciting development plans for the whole site are a great solution for the regeneration of an iconic London landmark which has been in decay for the last 30 years,” commented Trudie Styler.
“We are both very pleased to be part of this new community and really look forward to making our London home at the Battersea Power Station.”
The development has now entered Phase 3, which involves apartments designed by Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners. Rob Tincknell, CEO of BPSDC and host of the part celebrating the new phase, said: “I am thrilled that Trudie and Sting have chosen Battersea Power Station as their Londonhome and really hope they enjoy being part of this exciting development.”
“The entire 42-acre Battersea Power Station site is now being transformed into a world-class destination, which will gather the best in class operators across the globe to create a unique place of which we can all be proud.”
Sting also performed a small set at the launch party, including songs from his musical, The Last Ship, and familiar hits such as Englishman in New York, Fields of Gold and Every Breath You Take.
