The walkway, which was unveiled this week, offers an alarming new view of the bridge: one directly from the sky. The glass floor is built 42 metres above the iconic London landmark, giving tourists a never-before-seen perspetive of the bascules being raised beneath their feet.
Touted as “the most significant development to the Exhibition since it originally opened in 1980s”, the walkway measures 11 metres long and 1.8 metres wide, spanning the West of the bridge. Each glass floor panel weighs 530 kilograms – each.
The East Walkway will open with its own glass floor on Monday 1st December.
